Chinese authorities are offering rewards of up to 100,000 yuan, or about $14,000, for reporting on activities of people who practice any from a list of over 20 religions that are persecuted in China.

The new directive details measures to enhance its state abuses of religions. Issues people can get rewards for reporting include if they see people handing out leaflets or pictures, handing religious banners, and for publishing and printing books that preach religion, among other issues considered crimes by the ruling party.

And after footage showed shredding trucks destroying documents at the Chinese consulate in New York, a similar shredding truck has now been photographed outside the Chinese consulate in San Francisco. This is again raising speculation on possible closures of the consulates.
