Why China’s Sticking With ‘Zero COVID’

China’s “zero-COVID” policy is the reason why Shanghai is currently under strict lockdown, which has severely impacted the Chinese economy. Factories and businesses are closed, consumers are confined at home, and ports and the supply chain are disrupted.

The head of China’s national health commission released a statement Monday, saying China will firmly oppose what it calls “the wrongful thinking” of coexisting with the virus.
