Marcos Schotgues is the editor-in-chief of Epoch Times Brazil. He’s currently producing an investigative documentary series called “Brazil: A Last Stand in the Americas.”

The first report, “Red Tide: Latin America’s New Left Turn,” highlights incoming Brazilian President Lula da Silva’s deep ties to far-left organizations.

Along with Fidel Castro, Lula da Silva founded the São Paulo Forum in 1990. Schotgues says this brought together moderate leftists and many of the most radical and dangerous communist groups in South America under one banner. The São Paulo model has also inspired leftist groups globally.

So, with Lula da Silva set to take power in January, what are the implications, not just for South America, but for the United States?
