Video footage shows a 10-year-old Georgia girl jumping into a swimming pool to save her toddler sister from drowning.

The incident took place on May 15 at an apartment complex in Chamblee.

Kali Dallis, 3, jumps into the water wearing an inner tube but it soon flips over, leaving her under the water.

Her sister Jayla sprints from the side of the pool, leaping into the water and saving Kali.

“She was, like heavy, so I had to pull her by her hair, and then I grabbed her by her waist and pulled her up,” Jayla Dallis told WSB-TV.

While a bystander called 911, the toddler’s aunt and an apartment complex employee performed CPR.

Chamblee Police Department Sgt. Ed Lyons said he was sitting in his patrol car when he received the call and rushed to the scene.

When he saw the girl lying on the side of the pool, he thought of his own young daughter.

“I saw my little girl laying there. Same kind of little bathing suit she wears. Same little hair pulled up in a little bun up top,” he said. “You know, you kind of have to push past that and do what you’re trained to do.”

The toddler took a breath after several minutes of CPR. She was stabilized at the hospital and was released on May 31, WSB-TV reported.

“I’m fortunate to get to take my baby home after two weeks,” Kali’s mother, Daneshia Dallis, told the broadcaster. “I cried tears of joy because I get to see this child and where she is now, instead of where she was.”

Dallis said what happened is a reminder for parents.

“It’s amazing. It’s a miracle. Don’t take your eyes off of them. All the floats are not safe. Be careful. Watch your kids,” she said.

3-Year-Old Drowns in Texas

A toddler drowned at a pool at an apartment complex in Texas on June 2.

“Unfathomable for parents and heartbreaking for responders,” the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The office told KPRC that the drowning took place at The Enclave at Woodridge Apartments in Sugar Land.

The boy was wearing floaties while swimming but the family was leaving the area to get some food so another person removed the floaties. The child then sat near the pool and fell into it.

The boy was underwater for over two minutes before someone noticed.

People tried performing CPR and the toddler was rushed to a hospital, but the boy was later pronounced dead.
