The United States plans to ship 2.5 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine to Colombia, the White House said Wednesday.
The Colombian president’s office said Monday that U.S. President Joe Biden told President Ivan Duque of the donation in a call during which they also discussed reactivating the economy, jobs, climate change and shared democratic values and human rights.
The United States will also donate 2 million COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines to Peru, the U.S. State Department announced on Tuesday.
“The United States is donating 2 million Pfizer vaccine doses to Peru as a part of our ongoing solidarity with the people of Peru as they recover from this devastating pandemic,” State Department spokeswoman Jalina Porter said.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration will also ship 2.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine to Pakistan.
Porter said the United States will continue to donate vaccine doses in the coming months as supplies become available.
