Rob Polansky (WFSB)—Police in New Britain arrested a mother after she was unable to provide an explanation for her 18-month-old daughter’s bruises.
Victoria Krzeminski, 29, was charged with cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a minor.

Krzeminski’s boyfriend, Dylan Michael Vitale, was arrested as part of the case on June 24.
Police said they were contacted by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) on June 23 about a possible child abuse situation.
It said the 18-month-old girl was admitted to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for an unrelated condition. The staff noticed bruising on the child’s legs and more severe bruising on her stomach and back.
Police said they interviewed Krzeminski, but she couldn’t explain the bruises.
However, Krzeminski said that around the time she noticed the bruises, the child vomited several times. Her health also deteriorated to the point where she couldn’t walk.
Police determined that she failed to provide medical care.
Krzeminski said she didn’t report it because she already had an open case with DCF.
She was arrested on Thursday and held on a $200,000 bond.
She faced a judge on Friday.
Last week in Buffalo, New York, a mother of a two-year-old child who was beaten to death in July of 2018 has been sentenced to 25 years to life for murder in the second degree and manslaughter in the first degree.

“It was not intentional, it was not on purpose. [Hall] never meant for this to happen,” Owens said.
“Even though nothing can go back to the way it was, Xavion will not be forgotten and Bashar will be forgiven,” Owens continued.
Just two days later Owens was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with the shaking and beating death of Hazzard.
Owens and Hall both pleaded not guilty to charges in September 2018.

In court, an assistant district attorney said that both Hall and Owens admitted during interviews that they abused the child multiple times.
According to officials, the medical examiner determined the toddler died from multiple blunt force trauma.
“This little boy was beaten to death by his own mother, the person who should have loved and cared for him. This was a horrific crime and I will be asking for the maximum when this defendant is sentenced,” Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn said in February.
