Former President Donald Trump described the current hush-money trial in New York City as a “scam” and “election interference” after the first day of jury selection on Monday.
President Trump claimed he is being politically prosecuted through this and other trials, and also said to reporters that the judge in the case, Juan Meacham, may not grant him his request to see his son Barron’s graduation on May 17, as the trial is expected to continue through that date.
Jury selection will continue on Tuesday.
President Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
