China’s fruit war with Taiwan wages on.
The hashtag “freedom pineapple” came after China banned Taiwanese pineapples. Now Taiwan is pushing a new hashtag, “freedom fruit” after China added Taiwanese wax apples and custard apples to the ban.
China gave Taiwanese farmers less than 24 hours notice. It announced Sunday morning that starting Monday, it would not accept the locally grown apples.
