It’s a challenging time for many veterans right now, especially those who served in Afghanistan, wondering if it was all worth it.
Takosha M. Swan has a definitive answer for them: It was absolutely worth it. They did their job and served the country well.
Swan is an Iraq War veteran and vice chair of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Board. She says the emphasis right now is on the mental health of veterans and on being available to have the conversations they need to have, through crisis hotlines and other means.
Swan has one other powerful tool. She’s also the singer-songwriter of “The Veteran Anthem”—a song meant to share with veterans and their families. It offers hope, inspiration, and also instructions on how to best support veterans during difficult times.
