Canadian authorities released on Tuesday a sketch of a girl whose remains were found in a dumpster last month.

The Homicide and Missing Persons Unit of the Toronto Police Service has released a sketch of a girl whose remains were discovered by officers in a dumpster on May 2 in the wealthy Rosedale neighborhood in Toronto, Canada.

The police released the deceased girl’s composite sketch, drawn by a forensic artist from the Ontario Provincial Police, in hopes of identifying the girl.

Police described the girl as a young girl, possibly between the age of 4 to 7 years, black, 3’6” tall with a thin build, with black curly hair that was sectioned in four short ponytails, two of which were braided and secured with black and blue elastic bands.

“Investigators believe the remains were left in the area between Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 12 p.m., and Monday, May 2, 2022, at 4:45 p.m. However, she may have been deceased as early as the summer or fall of 2021, or earlier,” a June 7 statement made by the Toronto Police Service reads.

One piece of potentially significant evidence, according to Insp. Hank Idsinga of the Homicide Unit, is a dark-colored Porsche that “inexplicably” stopped in front of the dumpster around the time authorities say the girl’s body was put in the bin.

“That car is literally captured on camera, on Dale Avenue, in the area of the dumpster, right in the timeframe that we believe the body was dumped there, and inexplicably stops right by the dumpster for about 21 seconds,” Idsinga said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. “So of course, we want to identify this car. Maybe there’s a perfectly innocent explanation as to why it stopped there, but maybe not.”

Idsinga said the police are waiting for toxicology results from the Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences.

According to The Associated Press, Idsinga said the discovery of the deceased girl’s remains prompted investigators to search for missing children in Canada and around the world. Since then, investigators have identified 58 children, eight of which have been accounted for.

Anyone with information on the girl’s identity or cause of death is urged to contact police at 416-808-5300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
