December 30, 2023

FLORENCE, Italy—On Dec. 27, the renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts kicked off its highly anticipated 2024 European tour in Florence, Italy. The performance took place in a packed theater, leaving the audience in awe of the artists’ exceptional talents.

The mesmerizing display of colors, synchronized dancers, and impressive stage presence left audience members spellbound. “I was very impressed by the colors, the synchrony of the dancers,” said Francesca Acquaroli, a principal engineer at Baker Hughes.

“A combination of music, theater, dance, even physical virtuosity; a great effort,” shared Lino Beccofino, a business owner, praising the seamless integration of different artistic elements.

Based in New York, Shen Yun aims to revive traditional Chinese culture, which has faced significant suppression under the ruling communists. Historical pieces portrayed on stage deeply moved many attendees. “It’s a culture that you don’t know, so it’s very fascinating these stories that come,” said Ms. Acquaroli.

“The beginning of a new spectacular genre, very interesting the combination of gestures, dance, but above all the videography, which is done extraordinarily,” said Stefania Maggini, who is an artistic director of Dante’s Art Association, emphasizing the brilliance of the stage design and visual effects.

Shen Yun‘s spiritual message was also evident to some attendees, who said it added an extra layer of depth to the performance. “The message, no doubt, is something that touches you inside,” said Franca Castaldi, owner of an antique shop.

“I find that we should all take [an] example from [Shen Yun], because indeed compassion, tolerance, patience are virtues we should all have,” said Annamaria Cappelli, a business owner.

The audience expressed their admiration for Shen Yun. “Congratulations, because you’re all amazing. So keep it up, you’re on the right track,” said Ms. Cappelli.

Shen Yun will continue to grace the stage in Florence until Dec. 31, providing a unique cultural experience for audiences in Italy. Stay tuned for more updates as the European tour unfolds.
