Seattle Audience Say Shen Yun Is ‘Harmonious’ and ‘Divine’

April 10, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts gave audiences a glimpse of traditional Chinese culture at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle, Washington, on April 3 and April 4. Audience members commended the performers for their artistry and said they felt uplifted after seeing the show.

“The dancing and the harmonious spirit it brought, and the music was divine. It was lovely,” said Pam Gassman, an artist.

“It was very uplifting, the whole performance. All of the different stories and the music, everything is very uplifting,” said Bruce Barnes, owner of Actualize Your Full Potential LLC.

“Absolutely stunning. And we loved the integration between the technical background and bringing that to life, in the whole story it was beautiful,” said Debra Larson, a business coach.

Shen Yun draws its inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of traditions and values, a culture that was believed to be inspired by the Divine. Theatergoers applauded Shen Yun’s efforts and took note of a deeper message.

“I loved the pantomime of the compassion, the kindness. In our world we need more of that,” said Karen Sapienza, owner of Footlady.

“It was inspirational, I love the mixture of the East and Western instruments. That in itself was a message of harmony,” said Ms. Gassman.

Shen Yun has an all-new program every season, including new dances, music, stories, and backdrops.

Hannah Feaster, a dance instructor at Southwest Washington Dance Center, was incredibly impressed by Shen Yun’s artistry.

“Just absolutely beautiful, the costumes were so colorful. It was really cool seeing how the light bounced off of it into the audience. And all the movements and technique, everything was amazing.”

“I loved the interplay between the unseen world and the seen world, divinity and humanity. I also loved the humor that was interwoven throughout everything. The comedy, very well done. I laughed a lot,” said Andrew Baklinski, owner of Baklinski Home Improvements.

For Justin Franklin, a financial analyst, Shen Yun’s performance has exceeded his expectations, and he said he cannot wait to come back next year.

“Please keep doing what you’re doing. It’s obviously flawless, it’s wonderful. I’m humbled by your work, I can’t wait to come see it next year,” he said.

“It was seamless, it was an experience that I think everybody should share,” said Ms. Gassman.

Shen Yun is currently performing at The David H. Koch Theater at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City and will be there until April 14.
