Salford Audience Amazed by the Energy of Shen Yun

Shen Yun Performing Arts has started shows on its last leg of this year’s UK tour. Audience members at The Lowry, Salford said they could feel strong energy while watching the show.

“Beyond comparison to anything I’ve ever seen before and totally relentless and almost totally inexhaustible. I’m not quite sure how they managed to keep up that pace all the time, but it really was incredible,” said Ann O’Brien, a retired judicial officer.

Paul Nathan, a banking specialist, said the energy was nonstop through the entire show: “Looking at the movements, the dance movements, the tumbling, all that kind of stuff is just amazing. From start to finish.”

While Andrew Collins, an engineer, said the show was both energetic and tranquil: “There’s a lot of energy but actually it’s very tranquil as well. I get that sort of gentleness around it as well.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive the traditional, divinely inspired culture of China and share it with the world.

Ms. O’Brien said this mission is achievable for Shen Yun. “I think it’s a huge one but having seen what they do tonight I think it’s totally achievable because every single person put their complete heart and soul and every fibre of their being into what happened tonight.”

Mr. Nathan said the storytelling was fantastic: “You’ve definitely got a sense of scale in terms of the timeline, taking you all the way back that 5,000 years and then coming to modern day. And you get to see kind of how the cultures you know, evolved over time. And it was just really good.”

Richard Bailey thought the mission was very important, especially for today: “I think it’s very important, especially when you think about the persecution that has taken place and the way that it’s not able to be expressed in China, it’s real home. So to try to keep it up and rediscover it and share it with a wider audience, I think is important. And it makes us aware of some of these really quite important issues for Chinese people.”

As a priest, he found the message sent out by Shen Yun was very positive, “one will go away at the end of the evening feeling, you know, positive and uplifted.”

Ms. O’Brien said the show was absolutely magnificent and much more than her expectation, “an evening that you will never forget for the color, the energy, the dance content, the sheer skill of everybody who was involved.”
