‘Phenomenal’: Audience Members Left Amazed and Impressed After Seeing Shen Yun

Shen Yun Performing Arts showcased its all-new program in Phoenix, Montgomery, and North Charleston on Feb. 13. Here’s what theatergoers had to say.

“Phenomenal, I’ve never seen such professionalism and artistic ability. They never missed a beat with the orchestra,” said Kim Marie, who is the owner of Mirrordog Foundation.

“It’s just amazing. It’s just you have fun with each piece that they introduce, and it’s just laughing and feeling the emotion that they’re putting throughout the dancing,” said Stephanie Hurst, who is the owner of Realty Pros.

“It was fantastic, really enjoyed the dancing, the tumbling. Just amazing,” said Nick Nilsson, who is a strength coach, author, and owner of Better You.

“Creative, informative. We learned a lot about Chinese history and the way China was,” said Catherine Beckwyth, who is an entrepreneur.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism. Theatergoers said they were deeply touched by Shen Yun’s effort and took note of a deeper meaning.

“We are forgetting these principles of truth and compassion. And I think it’s just very, very important. I think just for our own mental and physical health, but also just for making this world a much better place,” said Dr. Sonal Bhatia, who is a pediatric neurologist at Medical University of South Carolina.

“I think kindness is so important in everything. And for that to be a foundation, I don’t see why that would be a problem,” said Kelly Ryan Bailey, who is an entrepreneur.

“The persecution [of Falun Gong] and what’s happening in China that we really don’t hear about was really impactful and very emotional,” said Laura Laire, who is the co-founder and CEO for LAIRE.

“I think that bringing traditions and cultures back is very important and making sure that people understand what their tradition was and the culture that they were born from,” said Ms. Hurst.

With eight companies touring the world simultaneously, Shen Yun presents new performances for audiences to enjoy every year.

“I love the show. I thought it was educational, it was inspiring. My biggest takeaway was the awareness that it’s bringing to what’s happening today in China and the history. I thought it was incredible that we got to learn more about that,” said Ms. Marie.

“Inspirational and powerful performance it was. Very enlightening and it was a great show,” said David Beckwyth, who is an entrepreneur.

“Keep the story going for more generations to learn and appreciate the culture and the timeless history,” said Todd Laire, who is the co-founder of LAIRE.

“Thank you for sharing your culture with us. Everyone needs to see this, it’s beautiful,” said Dawn Lohr, who is a business banker relationship manager for PNC Bank.

Shen Yun will next visit the Columbia County Performing Arts Center in Augusta, Georgia, on Feb. 17.
