‘Outstanding’: Detroit Audiences Moved by Shen Yun’s Performance

February 28, 2024

Shen Yun inspired audiences across five performances at Michigan’s Detroit Opera House in late February. Audience members highlighted to the beauty of the performance.

“The skill that was involved in the production and by the actors and the performers was outstanding. I also enjoyed the singers, the musicians. I just think the show was well-choreographed and was something that should be seen,” said John Bernard, a retired senior VP from Morgan Stanley.

“I loved all the stories, they were very interesting. They had a little sense of humor, they had drama. It really kept you on the edge of your seat, so I really enjoyed that quite a bit.  I’m thrilled to be here,” said Susie Hovsepian, co-founder and CEO of the Paul Foundation.

“Tremendous show, absolutely fantastic. The dancing, the beautiful costumes,” said Gary Shawgo, director of application engineering & sales at Minivalve International.

Theatergoers also took note of Shen Yun’s mission to bring back China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture from before communism.

“Devotion and how we need to get back to following faith. And reset our society on faith and goodness and kindness and the path. That was really strong to have that message. I think more people need to hear that. It was wonderful,” said Mark Carney, owner of Mark Carney Insurance Agency.

“It was a wonderful theme and it was a theme of hope and future,” said David Vitale, chief engineer of digital solutions at JR Automation.

Dennis Pietrowski, the retired managing director at RDA Group, was deeply touched by Shen Yun’s performance.

“With some of the storyline at the very beginning about people descending from the Heavens, that’s something that personally resonates with me.”

Shen Yun brings an all-new program every season, including new dances, songs, stories, and backdrops.

“Thank you so much for being here. We really honor your presence and it is absolutely wonderful. You’re outstanding and I would come again. And many times, it’s so wonderful,” said Ms. Hovsepian.

“Very passionate, heartwarming, heartbreaking stories. It was just fantastic, I would come again,” said Mr. Vitale.

Shen Yun next performs at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Feb. 29 to March 3.
