March 5, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts visited Las Vegas from Feb. 29 to March 3—performing five shows at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The company brought 5,000 years of Chinese culture to the stage leaving theatergoers in awe.

Karen Browning, the vice president of Browning Homes, said: “I really, really enjoyed it. I thought the dancers were so beautiful and elegant and just graceful. I really enjoyed how cultural it was.”

Dr. John Villasenor, a family practice doctor at Southwest Medical, said, “There’s a lot of darkness right now in the world, and all those traditional things from the past, we need to start bringing them back.” He added, “it’s good to see kind of how things were in the past, the history, the story, all the culture, so I thought that was really a great experience there.”

Douglas Browning, the founder and designer of Browning Homes, said: “I loved it. It was beautiful. It was spiritual. It was awe-inspiring. I loved it. It was amazing.”

Drawing inspiration from China’s rich history, Shen Yun displays a wide range of Chinese culture, telling stories that range from ancient legends to modern-day topics—including some surrounding communist China’s ongoing persecution of faith.

Cynthia Glickman, a real estate broker and the owner of Windermere Excellence, said: “It was something unique and different. And the message was really important. We were just talking about how the message of what’s happening with communism, and especially now how it’s infiltrating our country here in the United States, I think that message is even more powerful.”

“I love the traditional Chinese dance and I love the message as well. About the persecution that’s happening in China today for people’s individual belief systems,” said Rebecca Lariccia, a senior regional sales manager for Party City. “I think that everyone should be free to believe what they believe in today’s day and age.”

Kim Voy, the west coast sales account executive for Hurtado Furniture, said: “I know that they’ve been suppressed and it’s unfortunate. And hopefully, that will change at some time. Not sure how it’s going to change, but good should probably prevail over evil at some point in time. “

Shen Yun’s next stop is the Frontier Center in Idaho Falls with performances scheduled for March 5 and 6.
