Shen Yun Performing Arts successfully concluded performances at the Phoenix Orpheum in Phoenix, Arizona, on Feb. 17 and 18. Audience members were in awe of the whole production.
“It’s supernatural. The way the dancers move in such synchronicity among each other. It’s a true pleasure,” said Van Garrck, who is a software architect at Achieve.
“I love the show. I just thought that it was so graceful and beautiful, and my heart just really opened,” said Amanda Romania, who is an author.
Juan Ramirez, who is an attorney at ELG, was amazed by the 3D backdrop in Shen Yun’s performance.
“The change between the dancers on the stage and then on the screen, the transition is seamless. I was really impressed by that.”
Shen Yun draws inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture from before communism. Theatergoers also took note of a deeper message.
“There’s definitely a message there and I think a lot of it is hope and awareness. Making the world better and understanding that we can do that,” said Jocelyn Shumway, who is the co-owner of TurboScape.
She added, “I like the message, I think it’s inspiring. I think it talks to a deity or a higher power which I think is beautiful.”
“I feel so much for the people there in the persecution they’re going through. I admire their strength and their perseverance,” said Kim McElroy, ranch owner of Broken Horn D Ranch.
“The Chinese culture is beyond what it is today, as far as under the communist rule. And so there’s such a rich heritage and tapestry to tap into,” said Phranq Tamburri, who is a naturopathic medical doctor at Scottsdale Health & Wellness Center.
“To spread the word—what is currently happening in China, it might be sort of swept under the rug even in the current media climate,” said Mr. Garrck.
With 8 companies touring simultaneously around the world, Shen Yun has an all new program every season.
“Thank you very much for doing this. Keep up the great work and I hope you get to do it for many more years to come,” said Ms. McElroy.
“I loved the show, the costumes, the effort that was put into it, it was so graceful. But it must take years and years of training. I was so inspired,” said Ms. Romania.
“I’d recommend this highly to anybody that hasn’t seen this. Or if you have seen it, come back again,” said David Persutti, who is a retired dentist.
“I think it’s amazing, people should definitely come and see it and experience it,” said Thaddeus Rider, who is an engineer analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Shen Yun will be performing at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida, from Feb. 21 to 25.
