‘Gorgeous’: Shen Yun Amazes New Brunswick Audience

April 4, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at the State Theater New Jersey in New Brunswick from March 28 through March 31. Audience members marveled at Shen Yun’s artistry.

“I think it’s gorgeous, it’s very beautiful. I like the transitioning in between each of the segments and the storytelling and the music,” said Amanda McDonald, the leader of global digital marketing at Akamai Technologies.

“It was just beautifully orchestrated. The story and the way the story was performed was beautiful. It really resonated with you and you were able to put yourself in the story, which was wonderful,” said Anita Turner, an HR director in the pharmaceutical industry.

“The expression that was projected really moved me. The sorrow, the happiness, the joy, it was all combined,” said Norm Hewitt, a former teacher.

“I think it’s a nice way to start spring. It’s magical, it’s unique, it’s different. Great dancing, great entertainment with a nice story,” said Faith Reese, the CEO of Garden State Getaways.

Shen Yun performs with a live orchestra that combines both classical Chinese and Western instruments.

Mr. Hewitt was impressed by this and felt deeply touched by the music.

“This was so impressive when I watched the two-string violin. Playing the guitar with six strings and watching what this lady did on two strings just blew me away. Just the orchestra and the power that was projected by each instrument just knocked me off my feet, it was terrific,” he said.

“The vocalist and the pianist, I think the message that it was, brought tears to my eyes. It was really amazing, it was really something that made you think,” said Scott Schindewolf, the IT Director at Klatzkin.

Shen Yun aims to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired civilization and currently has 8 companies touring around the globe. Shen Yun also presents an all-new program every season. Theatergoers applauded the effort behind the performance.

“I think it’s important to have respect for tradition, but also to think about how it plays out in modern life. And the kindness, the focus on kindness,” said Richard DiGeorgio, the principal at Richard M. DiGeorgio & Associates LLC.

“This is not an ordinary show and I would recommend that anybody come out and get a chance to see this. It’s extraordinary and it’s something that you won’t forget,” said Mr. Hewitt.

“I think it’s a noble effort. I think there’s been a lot that’s been lost in the current times, so it’s good to see groups out there trying to keep it going,” said Frank Stroker, the lead finance analyst at Stryker.

“I would say that you should immediately buy tickets to go see Shen Yun because you will be blown away by the artistry of it. And also, the music was wonderful and it’s different every year. So you can see it every year,” said Renee Soto, the founding partner of Reevemark.

Shen Yun is headed to The David H. Koch Theater at New York City’s Lincoln Center from April 3 through April 14.
