Belgium Audience Say Shen Yun’s Performance Is a ‘Revelation’

Shen Yun Performing Arts took to the stage in Oostende, Belgium, on March 5 and 6. Among the audience was Belgium TV director Louis Welters, who said Shen Yun’s animated backdrop impressed him.

“The combination of the dance, with the 3D images. The timing was perfect every time. That was really original.”

Robert Ukropec, a consultant and R&D scientist at IMEC, said: “Beautiful, colorful. Honestly, I think what I’m most excited about is the history. You don’t hear about this and you don’t have the impression from today’s China about this. So I’m very glad for that.”

Dominique Vercins, a primary school director, said: “Magnificent, we see superb scenery which depict life in ancient China. And the traditions, decorations, and the costumes are magnificent. And then there are special effects, sets, and shows which are quite original.”

Mel Hartman, an author, said: “The flower dance was exquisitely performed, beautifully synchronized. It felt as if you were gazing into a flower garden, the dancers nearly invisible. I thought it was done so well.”

Shen Yun draws its inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of civilization, culture, and virtues from before communism took over the country, showcasing them through dance, music, and stories.

Bhairavananda Saraswati, the executive director of Shiva Forum Europe, said: “The inspiration is to unite. Stand up, to dare to say what the truth is. I think that’s mainly the message.”

“The combination of the modern and the traditional. It makes you think, maybe the past wasn’t so bad after all. The present isn’t always better,” said Mr. Welters.

Theatergoers applauded Shen Yun’s efforts to revive traditional Chinese culture.

“It’s wonderful, it’s a revelation actually. It’s something you can’t describe. You actually have to see the show to experience it,” said Mr. Saraswati.

“I would recommend it. It’s really a beautiful ensemble. Both the presentation and the dance. As well as the colorful, fairy-like world. Truly beautiful,” said Mr. Welters.

This year, Shen Yun’s world tour will conclude in May.
