Shen Yun performed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Raleigh, North Carolina, Mobile, Alabama, and Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend, showing 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through dance and music on stage.

“Amazing, amazing, I cried,” said Mariya Max, a dance instructor at Fred Astaire Dance Studio.

“It was amazing, the uniformity was beautiful. And I love the uniqueness and the story that they told. It felt like learning the history and culture, the way they told it felt like it was on a journey,” said Delisa Joseph, who is a former Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army.

Frank Higginbotham, a financial crimes investigator, had been looking forward to seeing Shen Yun’s performance for a while.

“I’ve been looking forward to this. I bought my tickets about six weeks ago because I was afraid I was going to miss it. It’s absolutely lived up to its billing.”

“It is a shame that the persecution exists today against traditional Chinese culture” by the current Chinese regime said Jimmy Diaz, who is a physician. “We all pray that China will return to what it was.”

Theatergoers said they appreciated Shen Yun’s effort to revive traditional values.

“The performance was flawless. It had a nice message. The world is a mess right now. And this message was, we can do better,” said Quinton Johnson, a former aviation security for the U.S. Government.

“I think that’s a great message really for the generations to just hold on their ancestral history. Keep it alive,” said Mahmoud Zayed, who is a physician.

“The aspect of tradition. You have to remember the past in order to move forward. And it’s a great thing to relive those traditions,” said Tony Nguyen, medical chief at Mercymed of Columbus.

“We should never forget where we come from and where we’re going,” said Gustavo Cedeño, who is a physician.

Shen Yun artists produce an all-new show each season and perform across the world.

Kylie Williams, director at HR Capital One, said she found Shen Yun’s performance very inspiring and was left in awe.

“So visually beautiful, the whole thing. All of that is very inspiring,” she said.

“If you weren’t feeling good, after you saw that you felt much better,” said Ms. Joseph.

Shen Yun Performing Arts will continue to perform in Sacramento, California, from Jan 24 to 27.
