Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra performed at Tainan Cultural Center Performing Hall in Taiwan on Sept. 29. This is the second time Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra has performed in Tainan City. Many musicians came specifically to see the performance. They were deeply moved by the cultural heritage presented by the symphony’s performance.
Music studio director Wei Chiyu said, “The music expresses deeply the feeling of gentleness of the Chinese people, their love for their land, their respect for the elderly, and their reverence to Heaven and Earth. [Shen Yun] did this in a peaceful and friendly way, to inform us on the feelings we should have towards Heaven and Earth. I think that’s something very rare.”
Orchestra Director Lin Chiuping said, “It is beautiful, pure, and moving. It touches people. It touches on the cultural heritage we have deep inside our humanity, the kind of culture that has almost been forgotten.”
Piano Teacher Lin Huishan said, “My whole heart follows the music. I won’t forget this performance for the rest of the my life. I’m very moved.”
The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is based in New York, but performs around the world. It combines Eastern and Western instruments in a full orchestra, complemented by performances of opera singers singing Bel canto.
It started as an accompaniment to the dance performances in Shen Yun Performing Arts. The orchestra has been performing solo since 2012, when it debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York.
