Senate Passes CHIPS Bill, Providing Subsidies and Tax Breaks to Chip Makers in US

The CHIPS and Sciences bill passed in the Senate with a vote of 64 to 33. The bill gives incentives to companies that build their chip facilities in the United States. Although the legislation has bipartisan support, it is not without its critics. Some lawmakers say the bill is too weak and will open the United States to espionage and intellectual property theft from the Chinese Communist Party.
