Amid one of China’s strictest-ever lockdown policies, a man in the city of Xi’an was forced to confess on camera. His crime? Sneaking out to buy food for his family.

As part of Beijing’s “zero COVID” policy, residents in Xi’an are banned from leaving their homes, even to buy groceries, amid a recent pandemic surge there.
