NBC’s “The Voice” is back in action, and it’s safe to say the singing competition is off to a strong start. The show, which kicked off its 14th season on Feb. 26, featured a whole new crop of talented artists in its season premiere, including 14-year-old Brynn Cartelli.

The pop-country sounding singer, who hails from the small town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, used her blind audition moment to sing Labrinth’s “Beneath Your Beautiful,” which she hoped would show off her soul, since she felt she was at a disadvantage because of her age.

Once she hit the stage, age was not a factor. Not only did Brynn sound so confident, she also sounded so mature! The high school student, who donned a summery romper and wore her hair in a stylish braid, displayed such impressive vocal control while utilizing her deep, alto voice. She also soared so beautifully on all the high notes.

Midway through the chorus, new coach Kelly Clarkson slammed her button down to turn her chair. Then Blake Shelton followed suit, which made for some interesting banter between the rival coaches.

“You turned at the very last second, sir!” Kelly told Blake, after pointing out that Brynn was the first person she had ever turned around for on the show.

“It doesn’t matter where it starts, it matters where it ends,” Blake replied. He then turned to Brynn and said, “If you have watched ‘The Voice,’ then you’d know that I have had more success with young females on this show then everyone else combined, and Kelly has absolutely no experience on this show whatsoever.”

Kelly snapped back with, “I had enough experience that he had me mentor his team on the second season! I’m just saying, [Blake] had to phone a friend.”

As it turns out, Kelly said enough influence to get Brynn to choose her as a mentor. And that’s quite a compliment, as Brynn previously said that she hoped, “A coach could help me be something more than I ever thought I could be.”

We’re pretty confident that Kelly will do just that for her. And we look forward to seeing Brynn’s journey continue on the show. “The Voice” airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
