A pregnant woman shot an intruder who broke into her family’s Florida home, saving her husband and daughter last week.

Jeremy King said he was home with his wife, who is eight months pregnant, and his 11-year-old daughter when two armed men broke into his Lithia, Hillsborough County home, pointed guns at him, and demanded money from him, reported Bay News 9.

The incident took place around 9:00 p.m. on Oct. 30.

“They came in heavily hooded and masked. As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter,” King told the network. “I’m telling them, ‘I have nothing for you,’” King explained. “And they’re like, ‘Give me everything you got.’ It became real violent, real fast.”

King said one of the burglars began beating him with the gun while the other repeatedly kicked him on the head, reported Fox News. That’s when King’s wife, who was in the back bedroom, peeked out and saw what was going on. At that point, King said, one of the men shot at his wife, who was not identified, and she retreated into the bedroom.

She apparently grabbed the family’s AR-15, and when one of the men approached the bedroom that she was in, she fatally shot him.

“When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him. He made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out n the front ditch before the AR did its thing,” King said, reported the broadcaster.

The men fled and the one that was shot was found dead in a nearby ditch.

King said he endured a “severe beating” from the attack, resulting in a fractured eye socket, sinus cavity, and a concussion, but that his wife’s actions saved him. His head injuries required 20 stitches and three staples to close up, Fox News reported.

“Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it. [My Wife] evened the playing field and kept them from killing me,” he told Bay News 9.

King told news outlets he doesn’t know who the men are or why he was targeted.

Authorities are still looking for the other man and ask that anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact police.
