The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a recall notice from Perdue Foods LLC to recall ready-to-eat chicken products due to possible external contamination, according to multiple reports.
According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) news release on May 31, the company would be recalling roughly 31,700 pounds of chicken products due to extraneous contamination, particularly due to stray pieces of bone that may have made its way into the products, among other contaminants.
The recalled products were produced on March 21, and the products in question include gluten-free breaded chicken breast tenders, whole grain breaded chicken breast nuggets, and whole grain breaded chicken breast strips, all three of which have the use by date “May 20, 2019.”
The company also recalled “Chef Quik Breaded Chicken Tenders Boneless Tender Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat,” and “Chef Quik Chicken Breast Strips Strip Shaped Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat,” both of which were packed in 10-pound bulk boxes.
According to the USDA FSIS, all the products bear the USDA inspection number “EST. P-369.”
The recalled products were all shipped all across the country to various distributors.
The company and the FSIS were made aware of the contamination problem after various consumers complained about the extraneous materials, according to the news release. Fortunately, despite the complaints, there were no reports of anyone having reactions to the product. However, the FSIS encourages anyone who might be concerned about possible adverse reactions to consult a doctor or a healthcare professional.

FSIS encourages anyone who is in possession of the products not to eat the contaminated products. According to the news release, the products should either be thrown out or returned to its point of purchase.
Further Recalls
Two other products were recalled on the same day. The FSIS also issued a recall for Johnsonville LLC’s ready-to-eat Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage Links products due to possible contamination by foreign materials. According to the news release, the possible contaminants include hard green plastic.

The products in question were produced and packaged between March 12 and March 13, and bear the establishment number “EST. 34224” printed in the USDA’s mark of inspection. The recalled product was shipped both across the country and internationally.
The FSIS encourages consumers who might be in possession of the products to either throw it away or return the products to their point of purchase.
The FSIS also issued a recall for Los Hernadez Tamales LLC’s pork products produced without benefit of inspection. According to the news release, the recall would be for roughly 9,090 pounds of chicken and pork tamales, as they were not inspected.

According to the release, the FSIS noticed the problem when verifying the products. Fortunately, no one has reported any problems. The FSIS recommends anyone experiencing any adverse reactions to visit their healthcare professional.
The hand-made pork tamales and chicken tamales were produced from Dec. 3, 2018, through to Feb. 7, 2019. However, there weren’t any identifying labels to locate the contaminated products from the uncontaminated ones.
