Peng Shuai Reappears, but Concerns Remain

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai had a video call with the International Olympic Committee on the weekend and appeared at some public events. But both the human rights group Amnesty International and the Women’s Tennis Association are not convinced about her freedom and safety. Peng had not been seen or heard from publicly since early November after she alleged that a top Chinese official had coerced her into sex.
