Peace Talks Begin as Battles Continue

As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its fifth day, Russian and Ukrainian representatives meet for peace talks. Kyiv asks for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian forces, but the battles continue. Moscow claims to have seized two cities in southeastern Ukraine while Kyiv says their defenses remain stable. Checkpoints and tank traps have been set up in the capital to get ready for more fighting. The United Nations says over 100 Ukrainian civilians are known to have lost their lives, and the actual death toll could be much higher.
