Over 100 cherry trees will bid farewell to Washington’s cherry blossom festivities as they’re set for removal in a restoration project for their Tidal Basin habitat. Starting in early summer, crews will replace the Tidal Basin’s deteriorating seawall, home to the highest concentration of cherry trees near the Jefferson Memorial.
