The Senate dismissed both articles of impeachment against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday and ended the trial. Senate Democrats argued that the articles were unconstitutional, while Republicans argued for a full trial.

The House will be voting on three separate foreign aid bills, with $61 billion to Ukraine, $26 billion to Israel, and $8 billion to Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region. President Joe Biden endorsed the bills and said he would sign them immediately if passed, while the House GOP pushed back on the lack of border measures.

President Biden called for tripling tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports, at a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. He said that this is to combat China’s practices that hurt American workers and companies.

Foreign ministers of Germany and the United Kingdom visited Jerusalem and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The diplomats urged restraint, while Mr. Netanyahu said Israel will make its own decisions on retaliation against Iran.

Seven jurors have been selected for former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York. The judge said he hopes to finish jury selection by the end of this week. And President Trump complained about not getting unlimited chances to reject prospective jurors.
