The next Group of Seven summit will take place at Camp David in Maryland, President Donald Trump said on Dec. 3.

Speaking during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in London, Trump told reporters about the summit’s location.

“We are going to do it at Camp David,” he said.

The summit was always going to take place somewhere in the United States because the country holds the presidency of the group through next year.

The summit will be held on June 10 through June 12, 2020.

Trump in August said that the next summit would likely be held in Miami, Florida, with his Trump National Doral Resort being considered as a possible venue.

“I don’t think there will be any surprises,” Trump said. “I’m not looking for surprises. I think we’ll have a very successful G-7. It’ll probably be in Miami, right next to the International Airport.”

“It’s a great place. It’s got tremendous acreage. Many hundreds of acres. So we can handle whatever happens,” he added.

Trump said 12 sites were considered.

In October, he dropped his offer to host the meeting at his golf resort with no profit, criticizing people who had said he shouldn’t host the summit at the venue.

“I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders. It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have its own 50 to 70 unit building,” he said in a tweet on Oct. 19.

“Would set up better than other alternatives. I announced that I would be willing to do it at NO PROFIT or, if legally permissible, at ZERO COST to the USA. But, as usual, the Hostile Media & their Democrat Partners went CRAZY!”

House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said on Oct. 17 that he would be investigating Trump’s decision to hold the summit at the resort.

“The Administration’s announcement that President Trump’s Doral Miami resort will be the site of the next G7 summit is among the most brazen examples yet of the President’s corruption. He is exploiting his office and making official U.S. government decisions for his personal financial gain. The Emoluments Clauses of the Constitution exist to prevent exactly this kind of corruption,” he said in a statement.

“The Committee will continue investigating, litigating, and legislating regarding these matters—including pressing for answers to our prior requests about the G7 selection process—but we will not allow this latest abuse of power to distract from Congress’ efforts to get to the bottom of the President’s interference in the 2020 election.”

Former President Barack Obama held the 2012 G8 summit at Camp David. The location is about 60 miles northwest of Washington, in a fairly remote area of the state of Maryland.
