On Wednesday, President Joe Biden detailed new measures the United States is taking to increase economic pressure on Russia.
The actions include sanctioning Russia’s largest financial institutions and more of Russia’s elite and their families.
Biden did not name any of the individuals being sanctioned directly, but the list includes Vladimir Putin’s two adult daughters, foreign minister Sergey Lavrov’s wife and daughter, and members of Russia’s security council.
