New Biden Policies at Odds With Airlines

The airline industry got off to a bumpy start in 2021. As it recovers from the economic fallout caused by the pandemic, the Biden Administration issues new policies that could hold them back. President Biden has made masks mandatory on domestic flights. That change got support from the airline industry, but another new presidential policy has rubbed them the wrong way.

President Biden will sign a presidential proclamation to reduce spread of COVID-19 through travel. On advice from the administration’s medical and COVID team, the president decided to maintain the restrictions previously put in place for the European Schengen area, UK, Republic of Ireland, and Brazil.
