National Guard: ‘We Feel Betrayed’

The day after inauguration, thousands of guardsmen protecting the Capitol Complex were told by the Capitol Police to pack up and move out of the Capitol and nearby congressional buildings.

The guardsmen were told  “to set up mobile command centers outside or in nearby hotels” and were forced to sleep and rest at various points around the Capitol. Politico reports that one group was forced to rest in a parking garage with no internet, just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom for 5,000 members.

Capitol Police are under the direct control of congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
