A Georgia mother allegedly stabbed her 3-year-old daughter multiple times in the groin and buttocks, Clayton County police said according to various local reports.

The mother, identified as Brittney Jackson, also falsely informed the police that her daughter’s injuries were due to an attack from a home invasion that she allegedly made up.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on July 27 that the 31-year-old mother had called 911 from the Lake of the Woods apartment complex about 6 a.m. on July 23, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Police arrived at the apartments and found a 3-year-old girl—who survived the attack—with stab wounds in her groin and buttocks.

Jackson claimed that her daughter was attacked by two armed men who had supposedly invaded their apartment to look for the girl’s father, police said in the press release. But they also noted how the story did not add up with the version that Jackson had provided in her 911 call.

Police said that when they interviewed the child on July 26, she told them that “mommy” had stabbed her, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Detectives were later able to secure arrest warrants for Jackson, and she was scheduled to be interviewed by the Division of Family and Children Services, but she didn’t show up.

According to 11 Alive, Jackson was traced to a location in southwest Atlanta on Bayberry Drive late on July 26 shortly after 8 p.m., where she was arrested.

Police said that Jackson had been trying to evade them by seeking to stay with family and friends.

Records show that Jackson is charged with one count of child cruelty and one count of aggravated assault. She is being held at the Clayton County Jail without bond.

Mom Stabbed Daughter More Than 50 Times

The latest incident in Atlanta, Georgia, is reminiscent of a case in Oklahoma where a woman was accused of stabbing her daughter at least 50 times and up to 70 times. Her daughter was only 10 years old at the time. The woman was given three life sentences in May this year.

Taheerah Ahmad, 40, pleaded guilty in April this year for having stabbed her daughter multiple times in May 2018 and then trying to set the house on fire. She was charged with two counts of child neglect, and one count each of first-degree arson and assault and battery, The Associated Press reported.

Despite more than 50 stab wounds, her daughter survived and has since recovered from her injuries.

According to KJRH, Ahmad was also given an additional 10 years in prison after the life terms, which are to be served concurrently. She has to serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before getting a chance at parole.
