Mom in Texas Found Dead in Car Weeks After Being Reported Missing
Christina Powell. (San Antonio Police)

Christina “Chrissy” Lee Powell, a Texas mother of two, was found dead in the front passenger seat of her car on Saturday, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Powell, 39 was last seen rushing from her home on July 5, nearly three weeks ago. Her body was discovered just before 7 p.m. by a security guard in the parking lot of the Huebner Oaks Center in San Antonio.

Powell’s car, a black 2020 Nissan Rogue, was emitting an unpleasant “foul odor,” the security guard said. While on patrol, he realized that her car was reportedly “parked in the same location for about a week.” Her purse was found in the vehicle and included information confirming her identity.

“He looked inside the vehicle and observed a body in the front passenger side seat and called 911,” said the police. She was found at roughly 6:45 p.m. and the car was located just a 10-minute drive away from her home in Red Hill Place.”

Authorities immediately transported Powell’s body to Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Offices for an autopsy. No official cause or manner of death has yet been released. A medical examiner will continue to investigate and determine the cause of her death.

The exact time when she died is not clear. Law enforcement said that “it had been days” since Powell was alone in the car. The windows of the vehicle were shut tight.

Powell’s mother, Claudia Mobley, posted a message on Facebook, saying, “My beautiful daughter, Christina Powell, has been found, deceased. I am heartbroken. Thank you all for your prayers.”

When Powell left her home a few weeks ago, she left hurriedly without taking her mobile phone, Apple Watch, or medications. Several hours later, a colleague arrived at the doorstep to check up on her, since she never arrived to work.

“We didn’t really have any kind of in-depth conversation. It was basically, ‘Good morning.’ She told me she was late,” Mobley said. “Then, she was leaving for work and I told her to be careful. And I probably told her, ‘I love you.’”
