Migrant Workers in China Work Unpaid

More than 200,000 migrant workers have been working for free without their consent. Companies appear reluctant to pay their salaries, according to last year’s data from China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Migrant workers in the construction sector are at the center of the problem. Data says their deprived salaries alone amounted to a whopping $400 million. Some workers haven’t been paid for months, and some worked for up to a year for free.
