A homeowner in Las Vegas, Nevada, narrowly escaped the pursuit of a murder suspect who attempted to fire his gun several times. The dramatic moment was captured by a nearby garage security camera on Sunday.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is trying to find the unidentified suspect and is seeking information that may aid the investigation. Police say the incident was a botched robbery attempt.

As the victim was parking his car in the garage, the suspect approached him and demanded his belongings, authorities said. After the initial surprise, the victim fled in the direction of his home with the suspect close on his heels.

Ring video footage provided by authorities shows the suspect pulling out his firearm and pointing it at the victim. However, after two failed attempts of firing the weapon, the gun appears to be jammed.

The suspect fled in a vehicle close by after the homeowner narrowly escaped being shot, Las Vegas police said. Police have identified the vehicle as a newer-model black sedan with black wheels and tinted windows. Fortunately, the victim escaped unharmed.

A Twitter post by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) urges the public to provide information regarding the attempted shooting incident.

“Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect in an attempted murder from July 24 near Lake Mead and Thomas W. Ryan Blvd.”
