Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have chosen a name for their latest addition to the family, their fourth child, who was born via a surrogate mother earlier this month.
Kardashian West made the announcement on Friday, May 17, when she posted a screenshot of a text message to Kanye on Twitter.
Alongside the photo of the baby asleep in his crib, she wrote “Psalm West.”

Below the photo, she also texted “Beautiful Mother’s Day. With the arrival of our fourth child. We are blessed beyond measure.”
Psalm joins siblings North, 5; Saint, 3; and Chicago, 18 months.
On May 10, Kardashian-West took to Twitter to announce the birth of Psalm.
“He’s here and he’s perfect!” she wrote.

She also made a note of the family resemblance in a different tweet, where she wrote, “He’s also Chicago’s twin lo I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her.”

A source close to the family told People magazine that the couple had a name in mind for some time but “wanted to meet the baby before they decided.”
“Kim and Kanye were both present for the hospital birth on Thursday,” the source added. “They are ecstatic. Their little boy is super cute and looks like Kim.”
The source also revealed that the other siblings have met the latest addition and that “North seems the most excited.”

Multiple sources previously confirmed to Us Magazine that the couple are expecting their fourth child via surrogacy. The publication added that, according to an inside source, there was only one embryo left, a male.
“Kim and Kanye have known for a while and are very excited. They had one male embryo left and are thrilled it has worked out,” a source told E! Online. “Kim always wanted four kids and having two boys and two girls feels perfect. They were very happy with the entire experience the first time and are so grateful to have one more baby.”

Earlier in 2018, Kardashian West said she might have another baby. “I would maybe try for one more,” she told “LIVE with Kelly and Ryan,” according to the New York Daily News. However, she made sure to add she would go the surrogacy route once again, as it is not medically safe for her to deliver a baby.
Kardashian West decided to use a surrogate after dealing with placenta accreta during previous pregnancies, according to People magazine.
Placenta accreta occurs when all or a portion of the placenta is connected to the uterine wall after the child is born. In normal cases, the placenta detaches and is pushed out along with the baby. It’s considered a “high-risk pregnancy complication,” according to Mayo Clinic.
Over the years Kardashian West has been open about her struggle to fall pregnant. She documented the process on the reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
While pregnant with North, Kardashian West suffered from pre-eclampsia, a complication characterized by high blood pressure. Then again when she was pregnant with Saint, she had placenta accreta. She said she was prepared to have her uterus removed following the birth of Saint, according to CNN.

However, in the end she didn’t have to undergo the surgery. Later, she opted to expand her family via surrogate.
“I really, really enjoyed the surrogacy process,” she said last May. “When it came to the breastfeeding time, I was like ‘OK, this is the best decision I ever made,'” she said.
“It’s a game changer,” she added. “Having to not go through that every few hours, breastfeeding, I can spend so much more time with the older kids and getting them all used to the baby.”
