Canadian candy company, Candy Funhouse, is offering an attractive job that includes candy tasting with sweet pay for anyone aged 5 and above in North America.

Candy Funhouse last month posted the work-from-home job opportunity for the role of chief candy officer which pays up to $78,000 ($100,000 Canadian) a year.

Thousands of candidates have already applied for the job posted on the LinkedIn job recruiting website, with applications still being accepted until Aug. 31.

Requirements for the post include “Excellent communication skills, fluent in English, and no food allergies.”

Responsibilities and duties involve “leading candy board meetings, being the head taste tester, and taking charge on all things fun.”

A Candy Funhouse employee likened the role to characters in the animated movie ‘Despicable Me’.

“I sort of relate it to Minions and Gru from ‘Despicable Me’, so we’re very much the Minions in the situation,” said an employee when describing the job experience in a video promoting the role.

The successful applicant will also need to become the company’s head taste tester.

Jamal Hejazi, the chief executive officer at Candy Funhouse, boasts that the company is “THE largest online candy store that specializes in all things confectionery with over 3,500 products to choose from.”

Founded in 2018, the headquarters of Candy Funhouse is based in Mississauga, Ontario.

“My brother Mo, a candy head, founded it in 2018 and my mother was employee no. 2,” Hejazi said.

Hejazi’s mother and father both worked in the food industry, owning a local restaurant and donut shops. The family owns a 90 percent ownership stake in the company.

Pandemic Sales Boost

Business boomed for Candy Funhouse during the pandemic, especially in 2021. Sales were “just under $15 million,” said Hejazi. “I’m not kidding.”

The company has built a massive following on social media platforms, with an impressive 240,000 Instagram and 3 million Tik-Tock followers. Apparently, the followers included an unspecified Kardashian.

With Halloween approaching, the company is preparing 40 percent of its stock for the surge of candy orders. Even candy giant Hershey announced last week that they will have trouble meeting the demand.

A post on LinkedIn by Hejazi dispelled some confusion online over the chief candy officer role requirement of consuming 3,500 pieces of candy monthly.

“The taste testing will be 3,500 products total*—over the course of a year* Should be around 23-35/per month,” he clarified.
