An illegal alien from Guatemala pleaded guilty to reentering the United States after having been deported, at a U.S. District Court in Nashville, Tennessee, on Oct. 1, according to the Department of Justice.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO) agents apprehended Jose Lopez-Ruiz on July 9 after receiving information on his location.
ICE ERO agents found the 39-year-old in Madison, Tennessee, and he was taken into custody after resisting arrest.
Lopez-Ruiz had an encounter with the ICE ERO agents two months prior while the agents were detaining another individual in Madison as a part of the Criminal Alien Program.
He managed to flee and escape on foot when authorities pursued him.

The Guatemalan native was deported on seven other occasions between the years 2000 and 2018.
During the time he was illegally in the country, he was convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) five times with one more DUI pending.
The statement did not list the last time he illegally reentered the United States.
Lopez-Ruiz faces up to two years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 24, 2020.
ICE Deports Illegal Immigrant Convicted of Attempted Murder
In related news, an illegal immigrant who had been living in New York City was deported after it was discovered he was wanted in France for attempted murder and kidnapping.
ICE agents deported 42-year-old Samba Ndiaye, who went by the name “Mohamed Fall,” in September after he had spent more than a decade in the United States, the agency said in a release.
In December 2002, Ndiaye was convicted of attempted murder, kidnapping, and sequestration with acts of torture, in Marseilles, France. He was sentenced to life in prison but fled the country instead.
In 2005, ICE arrested Ndiaye in New York City, a sanctuary city.
Breitbart News reported that during his deportation process in 2005, Ndiaye was released from custody on bail. In July 2008, an immigration judge ordered that he be deported.
The French national remained in the country until November 2012 when he was convicted for assaulting, resisting, or impeding police officers by an Ohio federal court. After serving eight months in prison, Ndiaye was released to ICE who let him go while the federal agency attempted to locate his alleged African passport.
Then, in April 2019, ICE officials learned he was actually a French national wanted for multiple violent offenses in his home country. After confirming his identity, Ndiaye was arrested a month later and deported via an ICE Air charter flight.
