Alan Korwin, a publisher and owner of Bloomfield Press and Gunlaws.com, attended a Shen Yun performance on Feb. 23 after his 98-year-old father suggested he go see it.
“They were filled with a divine spirit, which showed in their presentation of each separate performance. I am out of words and I am a writer. For me to be out of words says something about how wonderful a performance it was.”
“The stories were very emotional. I’d have to see it again to absorb it all. It was just something. I will be talking about it for months,” he said.
Through Chinese classical dance, Shen Yun is able to depict stories from history or events happening in modern time. This includes a meditation group, called Falun Dafa, that is still being persecuted for their belief.
According to its website, Shen Yun was established in 2006 by this very group of people. The company’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.
“The Falun Gong or the Falun [Dafa] are trying to re-establish the cultural heritage of China, a brilliant, brilliant heritage of 5,000 years of culture, dance, music, and costume, which the so called Cultural Revolution is trying to evaporate! And this brings it back in full color and glory! It was spectacular!”
He was moved by the finale after seeing a communist leader’s face on a tsunami.
“In the end when they showed Karl Marx and what evil he represented, and what beauty they were trying to use to defeat that evil, that brought me to tears,” said Korwin.
“That was a very powerful part of the show. The evil tsunami coming after China and these beautiful performers with their divine spirit, battling back against it, and the fact that this can’t be shown in China, they would lock you up, the torture they showed for a person studying religion, and that that’s banned, and here the media doesn’t give you an inkling of that. They keep saying China, they never say communist China. They are an enemy of ours but they present them as a trading partner, no big deal, That is a deception and this unveiled the deception. It was a beautiful thing.”
Korwin said millions of people should see the performance, starting with those close to him.
“I’m going to share it with friends. I am going to encourage friends to see it. And I’ve been warning many of my friends that China is really communist China, it’s evil. And Shen Yun is expressing that in dance and song. And trying to get the message out to America, because that message is not getting out in the way it needs to.”
