If your significant other told you they wanted something specific for an anniversary gift, chances are you’d try your best to get it for them.

A man who had been married for only a month tried his hardest to find what his wife wanted, but after searching store after store he had to get her something else.

When you see what he bought you will have to give him credit for trying.

Charlema and Vince got married in April 2018. One month into their marriage, the couple decided to celebrate their one-month wedding anniversary because they feel they had been through a lot during that time.

“My husband asked me what I wanted for a present and to be honest, I was not expecting anything,” Charlema, a club manager, told BuzzFeed. “Our focus is buying a home, so I didn’t want him to break the bank.”

However, Charlema did want something. The 20-year-old liked Rihanna’s new makeup line, Fenty Beauty, so she wanted a highlighter of the brand, and a brush to accompany it.

“I really wanted it to be Fenty but because I didn’t want to complicate things, I said I was open to any kind of highlighter that popped,” she recalled. “He kissed me on my forehead and said, ‘Babe are you sure that’s it?’ I said, ‘Yes, that would mean a lot to me.'”

Knowing Charlema’s wish, the 26-year-old husband, who is an industrial worker, started to work on getting presents for his wife.

However, when the time came for Vince to give Charlema her gift, she noticed he was “nervous.”

“Babe, I thought finding you a highlighter would be easy, but I went everywhere and could not find the Fenty,” Charlema remembered him saying.

Charlema then assured her husband she’d love whatever he got for her and proceeded to open the gift.

The first thing she opened was a hairbrush, which she thought Vince purchased in addition to what she had asked for. However, when she opened the next item, she quickly became aware there had been a major miscommunication.

“After going to a few drug stores I couldn’t find no Fenty, but I got you Sharpie because they are the best highlighters and they been around for a cool minute,” Charlema wrote in a post, citing what her husband said to her.

Appreciating the effort Vince had put in, Charlema didn’t tell his sweet husband about the mix-up at first, but when she told him the next day they couldn’t stop laughing.

Charlema then shared her story on Facebook, in which she thanked her husband. The received more than 43,000 shares and 23,000 comments as of Jan. 21. While most users who responded simply tagged friends or expressed their feeling in a short sentence, a few users wrote something a little deeper.

“Bless it was their one month anniversary, still lots of getting to know each other,” Carolyn Walker commented.

“Must have sense of humor when married to your Prince Charming. Sometimes they just don’t get it. Love them anyway and hope he makes up double,” Linda Lamb wrote.

Linda Lamb was right about some future husbands not getting it, as proven by stories shared by other user responses.

“My fiancé just said even he could put two and two together. Highlighter for my hair and a brush. No honey, that’s not it either,” Eileen O’Connor wrote.

“Just showed this to my future husband and he goes”I don’t get it? Is it because he couldn’t find the brand?!” I’m crying,” Kay Graves wrote.

One Facebook user, Nancy Berrios, wrote that “Sephora has Fenty Vince lol Rihanna has to see this!”

And Fenty did, on Twitter. After the company heard about the hilarious mistake, the brand promised to send Charlema “the real thing” in its reply.
