University students in Hong Kong have thanked their principal by signing a large banner laid on the ground at the campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The principal is facing criticism from pro-Beijing colleagues and authorities after he issued a statement condemning police brutality and calling for an independent investigation.

“Not many people would do that, and not many deans would put themselves in a position that is so politically dangerous for them after all,” Angela, a student at the university told NTD.

After students signed the banner, they delivered it to the administration, giving them the message that the voices of the people will not be silenced by the communist regime.
