Golden Retriever Goes Into Labor. Owners Thrilled to See Pups That Looked Like ‘Little Cows’

One lucky golden retriever mother gave birth to a litter of adorable puppies. There was, however, something a little different about her puppies, in that they didn’t appear quite so golden. In fact, they weren’t golden at all. Although the wee pups were very much canine, “dairy cattle” somehowcomes to mind.

Katie and John Black take it upon themselves to volunteer their time at Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue in Raleigh, North Carolina. The center is all about the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of golden retrievers.

In 2017, they discovered that their adopted golden retriever mix, Rosie, was pregnant. They were waiting anxiously to see the little pups, but when Rosie gave birth, they couldn’t believe their eyes! Not one of her puppies resembled her even slightly.

“Her puppies [Rosie’s] will be adopted out when they are old enough to be, and we will also find a forever home for Mom as well!” said Katie.

Rest assured, whilst no one is going to rush to exclaim, “Aw, they take on after their mother!” we’re all convinced they’re very much a part of Rosie’s pack. “Rosie, you don’t need to explain, it’s ok!” The pups are in good hands—and paws—and the center that loves all things “golden” retriever is going to make sure they all get a great start in life.
