A four-year-old girl was killed on Monday after a house exploded in South London.
According to fire authorities, a terraced house, located in Thornton Heath, collapsed after a blast, which also damaged neighboring properties.
Four people were rescued by the London Fire Brigade but a four-year-old girl, trapped under the rubble, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with their family, friends and the local community at this time.” said London Fire Brigade Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Welch.
The authorities did not officially confirm the cause of the explosion however, according to residents there were several reports of strong gas smell in the area for around two weeks.
