The recount or partial audit of the state’s 5 million votes uncovered an additional 4,790 uncounted votes.
This narrowed the margin between the two to around 12,200 votes.
The majority were found on memory cards that held machine-cast votes that were missed in the original count. This happened in 3 counties. Another 2,400 came about after a scanner had failed to read the ballots. Georgia used new voting machines in this election, brought in in 2019.
These discrepancies did not change Biden’s overall lead in the state.
Allegations of improper conduct have been made by a number of poll observers who witnessed Georgia’s recount.
