Harvey Johnson, Deputy Assistant Secretary from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, and his wife Lisa, watched Shen Yun at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington on its opening night on April 17.

They were captivated by the beauty of the dance and the music, and said they felt inspired after watching the performance.

“Riveting, that’s the best thing I can say, absolutely riveting,” said Johnson.

It was not his first time seeing Shen Yun, but he said that every year it surprises him.

“Love it every year, it seems like every year I catch something new about the act and I noticed in the finale, I really love the cell phone bit,” he said. “The precision, the choreography, everything about this show was absolutely spectacular, and I can’t wait to see it again.”

“I love the music, the music was phenomenal, the orchestra was just amazing, and the singing was beautiful,” said Lisa. “Just awe-inspiring, and full of energy and life.”

Johnson said the spiritual message has deeply touched him.

“The spiritual part of it, where they come back and they do the healings from like the light from above to come back and help those that have been hurt. That really touches my heart, it resonates with me,” he added. “And I think with the graphics from the screen, you could really feel the presence of angels, and that really touched me.”

He also felt that Shen Yun shows the righteousness that will give people hope.

“There are those that are suffering and there are those that who help to fight that injustice and that suffrage and that’s what you see here,”  Johnson said. “So I think you see that all over the place, even on modern day times, you still see that. We need heroes that can help those that are suffering, and that gives you hope.”

“I think it’s going to have great impact, like I said just the whole heavenly, spiritual connection touches me every time,” he said.

“I would tell them to come and see the show, it’s awe-inspiring,” she added.
