President Joe Biden’s latest spending bill passed Friday morning, narrowly along party lines. One Democrat joined Republicans to oppose its passage. Rep. Jared Golden from Maine says he’s concerned about the trillions continuously being pumped into economy, from COVID relief to these new investments. He also says it spends more on tax giveaways to the wealthy than it does on middle- and low-income people. He also disputes that the bill will be paid for.
According to the congressional budget office, the bill will add more than $360 billion to the national deficit, but some other reports estimate that number to be much higher. Biden and Democrats say it’s paid for, which Speaker Nancy Pelosi reiterated again Friday.
