Despite the city’s problems, you might have heard people say “don’t bet against New York.” It looks like the community pulled together to save at least two of the city’s struggling businesses—two music venues.

Customers of two New York City clubs have raised over half a million dollars to save them.

The owner of the West Bank Cafe, Steve Olsen, says customers started a GoFundMe page and they put together a telethon raising over $340,000 in less than 2 weeks.

Owner of Birdland, Gianni Valenti, said their customers raised over $170,000.

The owners of Birdland and the West Bank Cafe now say they think they can survive the pandemic—thanks to their customers.
